A QUESTION ABOUT THE WRITING TASKS

Please could someone help me!?

Do all of the writing tasks have to be based on the same subject? If so, does anyone have any ideas of what to write about that will conincide with the different tasks/writing styles?

Hope someone can help!

  1. Hey,

Yes, I think they said we don't absolutely have to, but it's best to use the same subject for each style. Most people seem to be doing it about a particular show/ company. I think it's easier to apply the styles that way, you can market the show easily, decribe the set/ costumes etc, and write about the facts of the show in the academic style. Hope this helped :o)

  2. Grace's response is right - but it is up to you whether you use the same topic or 3 different topics - my Blog goes over this http://paulanottingham.blogspot.com/
At the campus session - some students said that 3 similar were easier but I overheard one person saying different ones were easier - up to you.

  3. Sarah,
Like Paula said, it's up to us whether we use the same 3 topics or not. I started the task off by using the same topic for all 3 styles. I started off writing my marketing piece but when I came to do my descriptive, on the same topic I struggled and wasn't happy with the draft. I realised that for me it was easier to write my descriptive piece in past tense, so therefore had to change my topic choice to do this. So now all three of my pieces are based on completley different topics. On reflection it worked for me to do this, but I know everyone learns and works differently so it's definitley your own individual choice. I look forward to reading your pieces.
